Plotting is tough, and my real joy is in actually writing. I wrote a 1,200-word short story, a sidecar for the Cal Walker novel I'm plotting right now.

The urge was strong. I needed--no, I yearned--to write with verbs and adjectives, and let my imagination free.

The story is very raw and contains some spoilers for the new book.
